We believe in a healthy lifestyle and treatment modalities that will provide long-term pain relief for our patients. While opiates/narcotics do have a place in the treatment of pain, we strive to utilize modalities other than addictive painkillers. Dr. Hsu remains adamant about researching and utilizing the most up-to-date and advanced treatment options for patients. At our office, patients will be shown compassion and sympathy. We strive to create a genuinely personal and positive experience for our patients.
Dr. Bernard Hsu was born and raised in the New York City region. He finished his undergraduate at New York University with a major in Economics and Pre-Medicine. He completed his medical school and residency training at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn and moved to Buffalo to complete his fellowship training in Pain Medicine at SUNY Buffalo. He has dual board certification in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. In addition, he trained in medical acupuncture at Harvard Medical School and is licensed to practice in New York state.
Dr. Hsu is passionate about helping patients and providing the best and newest treatments available. In addition to his work at Buffalo Pain and Healing, he also holds a faculty position as Assistant Clinical Professor at the University at Buffalo in the department of Anesthesiology/Pain Medicine. He is involved in training residents and fellows in pain management and was the previous Site Director of the pain medicine fellowship program at Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo.
Outside of work, Dr. Hsu likes to spend time with his wife and two children. Dr. Hsu enjoys basketball, skiing, traveling the world, watching movies, fishing, and computers. He is active in the local community, his children's activities, and volunteers as a baseball coach for his son's little league team.
